CONGRATULATIONS to Carl Froch for becoming a three-time world champion this weekend producing the fight of his life beating Canadian IBF super-middleweight title-holder Lucian Bute.A few employees here at Shredall and SDS headquarters based in Nottingham were backing Froch all the way at the local Nottingham Arena. It was a stunning display by the 34-year-old who revealed he planned to call time on his career if the previously undefeated title holder, Bute, had won.
Froch was able to rely on home support for the first time in three years after a daunting run of fights on foreign soil. Roared on by the partisan crowd, including many employees at Shredall and SDS, Froch started and ended positively.
After knocking his opponent out in the fifth round in front of the ecstatic home crowd, Froch said: “This fight was all or nothing for me, the pundits wrote me off. The bookies wrote me off and I was the big underdog but that just made me more determined.”
Shredall were the sponsor of local ice hockey team ‘The Nottingham Panthers’ from 1999- 2004 and Shredall’s Managing Director Lloyd Williams had the pleasure of meeting Froch back in 2002 before his first ever professional fight, what a long way he has come in 10 years.
